This somewhat surprised me as most of the original pancakes I have prior to 1904 did not show much if any remaining 'polished' brass even though GE catalogs stated 'polished brass fan, guard, and trimmings' (1899 and 1904 catalogs). The 1905 GE catalog states 'Lacquered brass fan, guard, and trimmings'. My original finish 1905 pancake shows a finish looking something like gilt and which seems to have been the finish used through about 1915-16 on GE brass blade fans.
NOS plugs are a treat to find! The Eagle brand plugs are quite deco in style and look great on old radios as well as old fans. Here is a rare model of the gyro fan offered by Westinghouse about 1915. There are two seperate fan motors atop a cast iron and brass pole that stands about nine feet tall.
Hope this helps. Sometime in the 30's, they stopped giving every product a sequential serial number.
• eddie, 8 years ago Steph.Usually these turntables dont have belts. They were direct drive and 99% of the time the grease that was used at the factory has turned into a thick viscous gluish substance.

Left: The motor tag is of the 1905 and later style with no FORM letter. The serial number 230058 is well into the 1905 year and the tag is riveted to the steel band used on post-early 1904 pancakes. (click on photos to enlarge) Right: A cardboard switch cover was used starting on the 1905 model pancakes. The round, conical shaped speed coil holder was first used on 1905 (maybe late '04) pancakes. Below: Here's what is almost certain proof that this pancake was made in 1905.

He said he bought this white pancake off ebay around 2005 for a bit under $100 thinking it was just an old pancake that someone had painted white years ago. He recognized it for what it probably is, the one and only known special color order pancake. Of course there probably are a few others but I don't know anyone who has seen one. Click on photos for larger versions. Double click will get you even larger. Note: A DC 'pancake' has shown up with what looks to be original 'red wine and gold' paint under a poor flat black repaint. When the motor tag was removed the red was under the tag.
They are fairly common but are somewhat fragile and are often missing or in poor condition. Delta Oilboard Serial Number Plate Style 3 plates were introduced in late 1947. They are made of aluminum and measure 1' x 4' with rivet holes approximately 3-3/4' on center.
I just found one if these pancake fans that's we've had for quite a long time unnoticed. My only problem is is that I can't seem to find one like the ones you posted. I mean, it's similar, but I just can't identify it. For one, it's a four blade model. It has a fully ribbed base. It has a 10 bar cage.
Here you can see the oil tray in the top of the oiler with the oil return hole in the bottom to allow oil to return to the cup. Compare detail. Here you can see the detail inside the top section. The original black insulating knobs on the end of Emerson switch levers were made of bakelite and often became brittle. Many Emerson fans are found with the knob broken or missing altogether. I had several fans that needed knobs so I made a mold to reproduce them. These reproduction knobs are molded onto the levers just the way Emerson did it so that they will not pull off.
This is what is referred to among collectors as a 'toilet bowl oscillator'. The gearbox on the back of the motor housing is shaped somewhat like a toilet bowl and is a clamp on gearbox. The fan is very massive and heavy. It has a triangular porcelain switch in the base and a brass switch lever with cross hatching on the end of the lever where most fans used a black bakelite knob. This is a very attractive fan. I restored this one in 1993. The use of the word 'rare' when referring to collectibles is, more often than not, misused.
Ge Serial Number Age
Most GE pancakes from 1904 and later were of the trunnion frame style. The usual brass motor tag was attached to a steel band with rivets on the later swivel frame models. 'Colored motors available on special order' Below is what is thought to be an original 'white and gold' pancake from 1906. To the right is a page from a 1905 GE fan catalog. Note where it says 'Motors in any of the following special finishes can be furnished at an additional net price of $1.50: -Royal blue and gold -Wine red and gold -White and gold An additional note in the 1905 GE catalog states 'The fan, guard, and small trimmings will be nickel plated, on special orders only, for 50 cents net additional to price on each motor.' To date I am unaware of any pancakes that have shown up with these special finishes or with nickel plating with the exception of a single white pancake shown above and below.
In this photo the motor appears to be much thicker than a typical 1899 motor but most of the earlier motors were thicker. I might assume that this is actually an older motor.

Here is the side view of the fan. Notice the three tab feet on the base and the gold pinstripping.
The serial number consists of two letters followed by six digits. The two prefix letters indicate the month and year the appliance was manufactured.
Bakuten shoot beyblade 2002 english patch download. Gameboy Advance Complete (1/3). It is the successor to the Game Boy Color. CoolROM.com's PSX ROMs section. Browse: Top ROMs or By Letter. Mobile optimized.
This one however, operates on direct current only and is designated Type 19044. Notice the small compact motor. This fan retains it's original finish on the motor but I did have to repaint the base due to a lot of paint flaking and chipping around the edge of the base. The paint matches very nicely I think! A view of the motor tag. (I guess I could have cleaned the polish out of the numbers on the tag before I took the photo.) This is an early 12' ball motor fan that runs on 110 V DC current. A nice example with it's original finish.
One can also find these same exact heaters with the word 'Detroit' at the top rather than 'American'. Here on the right you will see an original (tarnished) brass oiler for a GE Pancake fan. The oiler on the left is one that I made using the original as a 'pattern'. I carefully measure each attribute of the original oiler and draw a blueprint of it, then go to the lathe with a piece of brass stock and machine away everything that doesn't look like the original to make a perfect reproduction. Compare the two side by side. The top oiler is an original.
Heat from this burner causes air to expand thereby causing compression on the piston above. The Westinghouse Tank motor was produced around 1906 - 1910 and many survive today, but most are the 4 blade models. The 6 bladed models are more uncommon, especially in a 16' size. I found this fan in an old building in Montana. The motor retains it's original finish but I did have to repaint the base.
Please email or call for info. This is a very early electric fan made in the late 1880s by Crocker & Curtis. Some collectors refer to it as a 'light socket' fan. It is a direct current fan.
I only know of 3 or 4 of them in existence, but the flat top version often shows up at flea markets, antique shops, and internet auctions. This is a simpler and more affordable example than the 3 bulb model. There is no switch.
It has cream coloured hand-painted sparse pin striping around the base, the motor and the rear and front of the motor vents where it almost looks like a flower. I'd love to know exactly what it is and it's value (fixed or not).
It is a 'plug-in' heater and both bulbs burn when the heater is plugged in. The 3 bulb model has a switch that allows the user to heat with only one, two, or all three bulbs. This three bulb heater is very ornate and heavy (cast iron). It was purchased from a dealer in Canada. I estimate this heater to be from the 1900 to 1910 period. Anyone who may have information on this company please contact me and I will be glad to listen.
I have the old girl all apart right now, but will post pictures when I get her cleaned up, painted and re-assembled. There are some repulsion only motors as well, but I don't think they were ever made in anything but fractional hp sizes.
Newer Delta Serial Number Plate This aluminum serial number plate is from a 1947 Unisaw, and is attached with screws. 1947 Delta Unisaw Serial Number Plate Some machines, for whatever reason, may have had their serial number plates removed or torn off, making a positive vintage identification more difficult. You can however locate the rivet or screw holes in the machine and perhaps a ghost image of the plate, and use the distance between the holes to narrow down the machine's vintage: 2 3/4' means that the missing plate was Style 1 or 2, and 3 3/4' means a Style 3 plate. Where plates were located on individual machines would take a paper unto itself. I should also note, plate locations on the same machines weren't always located in the same spot.
1901 models are 'FORM A'. 1901 and 1902 trunnion motors have a 7-3/4' long motor tag. The easy way to tell a 1901 model from a 1902 is the lack of the small brass OFF plate just above the switch on the 1901 model. 1902 models have 5 speeds and the OFF tag or will have holes where an OFF tag was once attached.
The GE pancake below is a real oddball and the only one I have seen; a 1905 stick mount with fully ribbed base. Only upon close examination of the photos (from ebay 2-11) did I realize the fan is probably not a mix of 1903 and 1905 parts but an actual 'made in 1905' pancake using some older parts. This fan is a 'swivel' model which became less common than the 'swivel and trunnion' model. Both models were offered in most years starting c.1897. Due to the different construction of the motors between the two frame styles, the motor tags were different until, I think, the 1905 models where the same tags appears to have been used. The 'swivel' frame pancakes through 1904 used a thin brass strip tag that wrapped almost all the way around the motor and was held captive between the front and rear motor castings instead of being held on with two small screws.
I have done nothing but put oil in the oiler,, but I did a very amateurish repaint 25 years ago for my wife as a present. I would like to restore it, or have it done if it has some real value.
This is the handle which is located on top of the heater. Notice the hammered copper. The feet of this heater are also hammered. This heater was made in England.
